Chase Betting Systems (Also Known As Dog Chase Betting)

If you are an experienced sports gambler you know the old adage, that if you chase your loses you will lose your shirt and be certain to bust your account. It is time to throw all that non-sense out of the window and learn for the first time, that chasing your loses is the best possible scenario. In order to make money using a chase betting system you need three items at your disposal:

1. A decent bankroll (or account balance)
2. A Plan
3. A strong stomach to carry out the plan

The old adage states that: he who chases his losses will burn through his bankroll. This is true, only if you do not have a true plan, a strong stomach and a decent bankroll. Let me explain. The old adage comes from the gambler who bets $100 on Team 1 to win today. Team 1 loses, thus tomorrow the gambler bets $200 on Team 2 to win (he thinks he can not lose twice in a row and plus Team 2 is a sure thing). Team 2 loses, then on day 3 he bets his remaining bankroll on Team 3, he loses and within three days his bankroll busts. The old adage is true, for this gambler...not for you.

You see a chase system uses simple mathematics to ensure that you do not ever lose money. However, you must make sure you bet the correct amount and you must have the guts to follow through with this program. The system is easy to follow regardless of which sport you bet on and regardless of if you are chasing a specific team or a general sport. In 2007, AFSB completed a study of the chase system in the NHL focusing on the Montreal Canadians. The system worked like this: On day 1, $25.00 was bet on Montreal, if Montreal lost, then the next time that Montreal played $50.00 was bet on Montreal, if Montreal lost again, then in the next game $100.00 was bet on Montreal, if Montreal lost that game then $200.00 was bet on Montreal and so on until Montreal wins or you run out of money. Once Montreal wins then the system resets and the next time Montreal won $25 was bet on Montreal in their next game, if they lost then in the next game $50 was bet on Montreal, however, if they won, then in the next game $25 was bet on Montreal.

This simple system made us $1,210.00 in the NBA Playoffs in 2007 (see our Article on Absolutely Free Sports Bets regarding the NBA Dog-Chase System). We again used this system in the 2008 MLB playoffs and picked up a nice $1,373.00.

In the 2010 NCAA Basketball season we are utilizing this system in a more generic manner. We are playing one Dog-Chase and one Favorite-Chase that is not team specific. Click on our Free Picks link to see the details of the 2010 NCAA Basketball Chase System hard at work.

In order to ensure that your account does not bust we recommend that you only bet with 1/4 of the normal amount that you gamble with per game. For example, if you bet $100 per game, then under a chase system you should only bet $25.00 per game. This is why:

The chase system is based upon the premise that you should not be able to incorrectly handicap a game for seven days in a row. If you are betting $100.00 per event in a chase system, and are incorrect 7 times in a row then you will be betting $6,400.00 on the seventh game ($100, $200, $400, $800, $1,600, $3,200, $6,400). To protect yourself you should bet 1/4 of the normal amount, in our examples we assume 1/4 would be $25.00 per event ($25, $50, $100, $200, $400, $800, and $1,600).

Let's examine the power of the Chase system. Let's examine one gambler who bets on 14 games (1 per day, over a 14 day period) and this gambler does not do so well, he wins 6 and loses 8. Example 1 below shows if he simply bets $100.00 per game at a normal -110 per game. Example 2 shows the same gambler with the same results, however, he bets $25.00 in a Chase system.

Example 1 - Sports Gambler that wins 6 bets and loses 8
betting $100.00 per game, one game per day
Game 1: Winner, $91.00
Game 2: Winner, $91.00
Game 3: Loss -$100.00
Game 4: Loss -$100.00
Game 5: Loss -$100.00
Game 6: Winner $91.00
Game 7: Loss -$100.00
Game 8: Loss -$100.00
Game 9: Winner $91.00
Game10: Loss -$100.00
Game 11: Winner $91.00
Game 12: Loss -$100.00
Game 13: Loss -$100.00
Game 14: Winner $91.00

This gambler is 6-8 and lost $254.00 over a two week period.

Example 2 - Sports Gambler that wins 6 bets and loses 8
betting $25.00 per game (with chase rules), one game per day
Game 1: 25 is bet and Wins $23.00, so in the next game:
Game 2: 25 is bet and Wins $23.00, so in the next game:
Game 3: 25 is bet and Loss -$25.00, so in the next game:
Game 4: 50 is bet and Loss -$50.00, so in the next game:
Game 5: $100 is bet and Loss -$100.00, so in the next game:
Game 6: $200 is bet and Wins +$182.00, so in the next game:
Game 7: $25 is bet and Loss -$25.00, so in the next game:
Game 8: $50 is bet and Loss -$50.00, so in the next game:
Game 9: $100 is bet and Wins $91.00, so in the next game:
Game10: $25 is bet and Loss -$25.00, so in the next game:
Game 11: $50 is bet and Wins $45.00, so in the next game:
Game 12: $25 is bet and Loss -$25.00, so in the next game:
Game 13: $50 is bet and Loss -$50.00, so in the next game:
Game 14: $100 is bet and Wins $91.00

This gambler is 6-8 and WON $105.00 over a two week period with a losing record.

Obviously you can use this system in way you wish, here are some possibilities:

(1) Team specific. In 2007, in the NHL we only used this system betting on Montreal. If Montreal lost, we doubled up on the next game, if they won, then in the next game we reverted back to our starting point.

(2) Position specific: In 2010, we are playing one dog and one favorite every day in NCAA Basketball, if the dog loses then we double up on a different dog the next day, if the dog wins then the next day we revert back to our starting point. (The same is true for our favorite system)

(3) Position specific within a series: In the 2007 NBA playoffs we played on the dog throughout a series, thus the dog could be Team 1 in game one vs. Team 2, but then Team 2 could be the dog in game 2. We played on the dog regardless of who we played on the previous game.

You must be cautioned, there will be a point wherein you find yourself wagering more than you ever wagered before on one game, however, when that game hits your profits skyrocket. Please do not bet your normal unit, bet 1/4 or less.

If you are skeptical, review our article on NBA Dog-Chase from 2007, view our results from the 2008 MLB Playoffs, or just click on the Free Picks link from our web site and see how the system is working in 2010. Once you see how good it works, you will be addicted.

NFL Betting Strategy - Finding Motivated Teams

There are many ways to bet on the NFL. One of the best ways I have found to profit from NFL betting is taking motivated underdogs against the spread. Assuming you are betting a spread situation that gives you a known historical edge to start with, you can really boost your win rate by focusing your handicapping energies on team and player motivation.

There are many things that can motivate a team that are overlooked. Was the last meeting lost because of a bad call? Is there a fan appreciation event going on? Can an underdog be a playoff spoiler for their rival? Your list can and should go on to include everything you can think of for both the home team and the visitors.

Make a chart out of them that you can easily print out and score every game giving the teams what I refer to as a Motivation Factor score. I have had great success using my own chart to find motivated underdogs with a situational edge because of the point spread, and for betting on games that do not show an advantage based on the spread.

All other things being equal, being able to consistently identify and bet on motivated teams is one of the BIG keys to success. It is a skill you should work to develop. Fortunately, that's as easy as making a chart and adding to it as motivational factors come to mind.

If you combine that skill with known situational advantages based on the point spread, you will win an awful lot of bets. Bets you may have been losing.

The DIY Sports Betting NFL Betting System has point spread charts and a Motivational Factor Chart to get you winning quickly with minimal effort while costing next to nothing.

See it for yourself.

Minnesota Vikings 2010 Strength of Schedule, Futures Odds and Betting Picks

In a perfect world, I wouldn't write an analysis or give my overview of the 2010 Minnesota Vikings schedule until late August, which is probably when Brett Favre makes his return "official" - with LeBron James finally deciding his NBA future, now it's Favre's "will he or won't he" that probably dominates the sports headlines for a while. But we all know he's playing this year because he already has had ankle surgery that he wouldn't have needed if he wasn't going to play football. And he's also out throwing to high schoolers in Mississippi.

Of course, last season the Vikings won the NFC North at 12-4 and advanced to the NFC Championship Game, losing when the Saints picked off Favre in the waning moments of the fourth quarter of a tie game, won the coin toss in overtime and then drove right down for a winning field goal - leading to an overtime rule change for the postseason. Most people would agree that Minnesota outplayed New Orleans in the Saints' house.

Pretty much every key piece will return to Minnesota, as the team got great legal news in June when a Minnesota judge made a ruling in the StarCaps case that essentially assures that Pat and Kevin Williams won't have to serve their four-game suspensions this season. Those two are the biggest reason that the Vikings have been so good against the run in recent years, with the team ranking No. 2 in rush defense in 2009 at 87.1 yards per game.

Minnesota will have to replace Chester Taylor as Adrian Peterson's backup, but it looks like the Vikes are content with Stanford rookie Toby Gerhart handling that job. There is a bit of concern over a lingering hip injury to WR Sidney Rice, who had a breakthrough year with 83 receptions for 1,312 yards and eight touchdowns in 2009. Rice's agent says he doesn't anticipate that his client will need surgery and should be ready for the opener.

The Vikings have won two more games than the previous season each year since 2006. Will it happen again? Let's take a look at the Minnesota Vikings schedule:

Week 1: Thursday, Sep. 9, at New Orleans, 8:30 PM

Week 2: Sunday, Sep. 19, Miami, 1:00 PM

Week 3: Sunday, Sep. 26, Detroit, 1:00 PM

Week 4: BYE

Week 5: Monday, Oct. 11, at NY Jets, 8:30 PM

Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 17, Dallas, 4:15 PM

Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 24, at Green Bay, 8:20 PM

Week 8: Sunday, Oct. 31, at New England, 4:15 PM

Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 7, Arizona, 1:00 PM

Week 10: Sunday, Nov. 14, at Chicago, 1:00 PM

Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 21, Green Bay, 1:00 PM

Week 12: Sunday, Nov. 28, at Washington, 1:00 PM

Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 5, Buffalo, 1:00 PM

Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 12, NY Giants, 1:00 PM

Week 15: Monday, Dec. 20, Chicago, 8:30 PM

Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 26, at Philadelphia, 1:00 PM

Week 17: Sunday, Jan. 2, at Detroit, 1:00 PM

This schedule ranks 14th in the NFL spreads in terms of opponents' 2009 winning percentage (129-107,.504). There are eight games against seven playoff teams from last year (two vs. Green Bay).

Think Favre will be fired up for that opener back in New Orleans after his mistake in the conference title game? I'd call that game a toss-up, but you have to like the Saints at home as they celebrate the Super Bowl title and raise a banner. New Orleans is a 4-point favorite on BetUS.

We are looking at the football betting lines and expect Minnesota to be at worst 2-1 heading into a Week 4 bye that no team would want that early. And arguably the crucial stretch of the season starts right out of the bye with five consecutive games against 2009 playoff teams, including the New York Jets, Green Bay and New England on the road. That looks like 2-3 at best.

Then you have the Bears, who certainly could be a playoff team this year. And the Bears beat the Vikings 36-30 in OT in Chicago last season. Minnesota probably can expect a 2-1 stretch before returning home for a rare three-game homestand (although it's the second year in a row team has had one). The Vikes will be favored in each of those. Minnesota has also won its last nine regular season home games since 2008 and has a.719 winning percentage at home in the last 12 seasons.

The weather certainly could be a big factor in Philly before the Vikes get to return to the creature comforts in a dome with what should be a win against Detroit. BetUS has this team's win total set at 9.5. I think the Vikings get to 10-6 as long as they don't lose more than one home game. The NFL Power Rankings show Minnesota at +650 to win the NFC and while I think they certainly have a shot to get back to the conference title game, I don't expect it.

How to Make Money Sports Betting - Expert Insider Tips to Make Money Sports Betting

There is little in life that is guaranteed, especially when it comes to gambling in order to make money sports betting. However, you can follow some simple advice that experts use to give you the upper hand when choosing your picks.

I have listed 3 tips EVERY sports gambler should take into account when analyzing a potential pick, and each of these could be the deciding factor in determining whether you pull the trigger or whether you wait for something better to come along.

Tip #1 - Pay attention to Team Chemistry

A team being loaded with big time players doesn't necessarily mean they have a good team. And conversely, if a team is loaded with no names, it doesn't mean they are weak. A good example of this is the New England Patriots a few years back when they lost practically all their starting secondary, replacing them with a bunch of no names.

They even had a receiver (Troy Brown) filling in as DB on dime coverages. This rat tag bunch managed to shut teams down, and their defense was just as strong as they were in previous years. The Patriots ended up winning the Super Bowl that year thanks, in large part, to the dominant performance of their defense .

An example from the opposite side of the spectrum would be the New York Yankees. Each year they have the highest payroll in baseball and on paper, they look unstoppable. Yet, they did not even make the playoffs this year.

In order to make money sports betting you need to be able to pinpoint these types of scenarios and hit a few games where the spread maybe off because the public will go with the personnel on a team, but not how well that personnel plays as a team.

Tip #2 - Pay attention to Team Momentum

Winning and losing can be contagious, and a teams general frame of mind can be affected by their winning or losing ways. A team can generate a winning attitude by starting off the season strong, and that can carry them through the entire season.

In order to make money sports betting, you should be able to pick out the potential teams who have the momentum on their side. The key is to be able to jump on these opportunities at the right time.

Tip #3 - Pay attention to Home Field Advantage

There are a lot of teams that play completely differently on the road vs at home. It is important to recognize which teams can play a solid game at home and which teams can play just as well on the road. Once a pattern is recognized you should be able to make money sports betting by jumping on the opportunities home field advantage provides.

For example, the Arizona Cardinals from about 2004-2007 were a very solid team when playing at home, but they were a completely different team on the road. Throughout their season, there were plenty of opportunities to take advantage of this pattern in order to make money sports betting.

If you play close attention to these variables, I have no doubt that you will see your profits skyrocket as you begin to make money sports betting.

Sports Betting 101- How to Bet on Hockey

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The most recent changes brought about in the hockey world centered around the NHL lock-out of the 2004-2005 season, the end result was a season without hockey and a flurry of new rules, most of the new rules were created and designed to bring more excitement to the game of hockey, however, these same rule changes also affected the way a gambler now wagers on hockey with regard to the elimination of ties and the new shootout format to decide games which of course put an end to games ending in a tie and brought about the introduction of the "money-line" to hockey.

Wagering on the "money-line" and/or on pitchers is nothing new to those familiar to wagering on baseball, these new rules mentioned above make hockey wagering almost identical to baseball wagering in that the best route to take is simply betting a team to win or lose, the difference is that in baseball you must know your pitchers but in hockey you must know your goalies, in my humble opinion the best way to wager on hockey is by concentrating on spread doggies or slight favorites, think about it a moment if you will my friend, if you were to concentrate the bulk of your wagers on the doggies and make these same wagers on the "money-line", then all you have to do is simply break even in the win/loss column to produce a profit, following is a list of key factors to look for when making a hockey wager:

1) The most important consideration is to know who is playing goalie for the two teams involved in any given contest, the reason being is due to the fact that a goalie is the single most important player on the ice and his performance will directly translate to the success of any given team on any given night. Keep up on starting line-ups and monitor the injury reports of each team playing on a particular day, often a situation will arise in which a back-up goalie gets the start.

2) Have a team by team schedule for the season on hand and realize in advance any and all scheduling situations that can and will impact any given teams performance, keep in mind that teams playing consecutive games on the have a tough row to hoe when facing rested home teams, quite often visiting teams do not arrive to the host city until early the next morning because they finished up a night game and then had to travel. In this scenario the visiting coach usually does not schedule a practice in order to keep the legs of his team fresh.

3) Hockey is similar to football in two key ways, first of all both games are very physical in nature, and secondly the adage that defense wins championships holds true in both sports. In hockey like football, there exists two type of teams, some teams play a style that is predicated on intimidating physical play featured by hard hitting while other teams play more of a finesse style of play predicated on timing, when two teams with these contrasting styles play usually the team with the more physical defense wins.

One of the nations most prolific handicappers is Jim Campbell who can be found at http://www.footballforecastor.com, he once again showed his expertise by finishing the 2005-2006 college football season with an overall amazing and eye opening mark of 49-32-1 ATS for a winning rate of 60.49% which includes a record of 9-4 ATS with his College Bowl selections and also includes his winning selection of Texas over USC in the BCS National Championship Game, that winning result on Texas means that Jim Campbell has now correctly picked the point spread winner in the past EIGHT straight College National Championship games.

Over the past 35 yrs plus, Jim Campbell has been on both sides of the Sports Investment Business, as a entrepreneur that ran his own business, to building and maintaining a private clientele base that greatly benefits from his superior handicapping expertise in the sporting arena.

Jim Campbell runs www.FootballForecastor.com which has been an internet based sports handicapping service since 1997, you will be hard pressed to find another handicapper that has had the kind of success Jim has had, over the past eight years he has maintained one of the very best winning percentages of any sports handicapping service.

Jim Campbell finished the final four weeks of the 2005 NFL regular season with a mark of 14-5-2 ATS coming down the stretch for a winning rate of 73.68% and for the season in the NFL he finished with an overall mark of 48-33-4 ATS for a winning rate of 59.26% and that includes a perfect mark of 7-0 ATS in the NFL Playoffs, Jim has posted a mark of 6-2 ATS over the past EIGHT years with his Super Bowl selections.
