We all know that when we hear the word Giants, it directly connotes an image of huge and monstrous images in our heads. Childhood stories of big and scary people would be relived and majority would be left in fear and shock. Now that we are of more mature age, we still do recognize "Giants" as big monsters taking on their opponents. But this time, instead of being in fear, we are left cheering for them while they are literally tackling their opponents for a leather skinned ball. Yes, this time, when we say Giants, we mean the New York Giants!
Being a Giant is not so bad. It means you have various advantages against other individuals. You may be bigger in size, more powerful in terms of strength, or even more capable of covering more area those normal sized beings. This would especially be not a bad thing if we are talking about a team in NFL ready to rough it out against the other grueling teams in the NFL.
Believe it or not, this team was originally owned by just one man. A successful businessman, named Tim Mara, bought the franchise for a mere $500. Now, in today's financially advanced times, this would simply sound as chunk change if we're talking about a competitive team in the NFL. But since this was back in the 1920's, $500 was a huge amount of money already. What made things even more financially struggling was the fact that this was also the era where the country suffered from an economic depression, leading to markets crashing in ways which would make any investor cry. Indeed Tim Mara was left unset at this disturbing scenario. But like any made businessman, the successive substantial loses led him to an operative business decision: He handed the business to his two boys. His twenty two year old son, Jack, and fourteen year old son, Wellington, became the youngest owners of an NFL team in the history of the whole league. I think this would stand still in the record books as I don't think there would be anyone younger than the age of fourteen who would own his own team in the National Football League!
But amidst the struggles, the team has risen as one of the National Football League's top teams! The Giants have been winning playoff games and is certainly not taken easily by any opponent. They are very much respected and have indeed lived up to its name as one of the "Big Guys" in the league.
But aside from being an NFL team, you might actually wonder. How influential is this to the viewers and fans that are consistently supporting this team? Well, you might actually consider going through your movie database and search for "The Little Giants". Yes, that is right. Not only did they make a movie with the Giants being a great football team, but they actually start them young! Indeed being a Giant fan is more than just an obsession, it's a tradition!
