Is Playing the Lottery a Sin? What Does the Bible Say About Lotto Gambling?

If you are reading this article, you probably want to be a good Catholic and avoid sins. You have also probably played the lottery as well and want to know if the Bible considers lotto gambling a sin. The Bible does not specifically mention the lottery or gambling as neither were around when it was written. However, it does mention that we should keep away from the love of money and greed.

Do you play the lottery because you dream about becoming rich beyond your wildest dreams? That might be considered greedy and playing the lottery, in this case, would probably be a form of sinning.

But what if you play the lottery because you want money to be able to help people. Perhaps you want to win the jackpot so that you could give money to your church, or to donate to charities, or to help people that are in need. That would mean that you are not even thinking about yourself. I doubt that would be considered a sin.

What if you want to have a lot of money for yourself, but you also want to donate a big percentage of it to charities? What would the Bible consider this situation to be? The Bible is open to interpretation and every situation is different. Perhaps it's a question that only you can answer.

Of course, there are no right or wrong answers to any of the above scenarios. Everybody's interpretations of what the Bible says about lotto gambling is different.

The lotto winners blog features cool stories about people that have won big jackpots in games such as Mega Millions, Powerball, Lotto Max, and Lotto 649. It includes stories like that of Billy J Patton, who plans to make a church donation after winning $2.5 million.

How To Win The Lottery - 5 Tips

The majority of our lives are spent behind a counter, in an office, at the beck and call of customers, managers, and the almighty alarm clock. We struggle and fight to reach an age where we no longer have to be burdened by the enormous weight of financial obligation. It is a disheartening way to live.

Sometimes it feels the only way to break free from the cruel chains of fate is to take a chance. With one ticket, one golden lottery ticket, you can go from down on your luck to winning it all. You can finally live the life you intended, your choices no longer limited by the size of your bank account. Dine on the best food. Travel to the most exotic locations. Play. Live.

But winning the lottery is pure luck, right? Wrong. Of course there is always some luck involved but there are things you can do to improve your odds dramatically. Here are 5 tips to get you started.

1) Don't play 7 ball games if you want to win frequently. Play games with a lower number of balls. Play 5 ball games, then 6 ball games if you have no other choice. Your odds of winning increase with the lower ball games.

2) Don't play the lottery games with the highest amount of numbers. The lower the amount of numbers in your game, the better your odds. If you have a choice between two games containing, for example, 35 numbers or 60 - go for the lower number!

3) Do not play lottery games that use computer generated numbers. Make sure they are real balls - ping pong balls are most common - in a washer barrel machine.

4) Don't rely on the lottery shop's quick pick numbers. Using your own numbers and a good lottery system will eliminate the least effective number combinations and improve your chances of winning.

5) Play more tickets and focus your lottery strategy. Concentrate on one lottery game and buy as many tickets as you can. The more tickets you buy, the greater your odds of winning.

Do not stop there if you're serious because there is a lot more you can do. Next, you'll want to use a proven lottery system to discover how you can win 8 out of every 10 games. Have you heard of those people that win the lottery more than once? Think they just got lucky more than once? Nope. There's no reason to leave your financial future up to pure chance.

Football - Coloring Pages Kids Should Have Five Facts

Football coloring Kid, you love a football coloring book but don't know the game of pigskin?

Coloring football Kid, would you believe five facts about football will put you in the know?
Let's get started...

  1. Football History

  2. Football Fundamentals

  3. Organized Football Structure

  4. Players' Skills Levels

  5. Football Season

1. Football History

American football comes from rugby football. The first major football game was won by Rutgers University (score - 6) against Princeton University (score - 4). Their war was in 1869 -- four years after the Civil War.

Coloring football boy, the main idea of football is still the same. Football fans still yell, "Run that football!", "Throw it!", "Kick it!", and "Score man, score!"

2. Football Fundamentals

Coloring kid, you must get the ball into your opponent's end zone.
Get yourself an egg-shaped, air-filled leather ball to throw, catch or kick.
Follow the rules and regulations. No running "any-which-a-way" with the football, man!

Only two teams can square off. Your team and the other guy's team must have eleven players on the field at one time. Smaller football leagues use fewer than eleven guys.

The teams take turns playing offensive (trash talking is allowed), then playing defensive (cry baby guys are not allowed).

The offensive team possesses the ball until they score, or fail to gain 10 yards in four tries, or loses the ball to the defensive team.

The defensive team tries to stop the offense from gaining yardage or scoring. The defense tries to steal the ball, too.

3. Organized Football Structure

Do you love knocking people down, kid? Is screaming in a big guy's face your dream
come true? Is slamming a little guy into planet Earth your idea of fun?
Well, Coloring football kid, tackle football is for you...

NO! Football coloring Kid, no scratching or spitting! "Eye-gouging and kicking?" NO! "Choke holds and pistol whipping?!" NO! Don't get greedy, kid...

Here is a little lowdown info to help understand organized football structure:

Teams may change their players as long as 11 guys are on the field.
Scrimmage is the action once the ball is snapped (quickly given) to the Quarterback by his Center until the ball is dead.
Line of Scrimmage is an invisible field line where teams face each other. Now get this...

Both teams can have three specialized teams where players have one or more roles.

Here are a few roles...

    I. The Specialized Offense Team must score or gain yardage to win.

The Quarterback leader gets the ball from his Center man -- his second brain. The QB throws the ball to a Receiver, or hands it to a Running Back or runs the ball himself (gutsy!).

The Offense Line is five Mack trucks. They power protect the Passer, block, and leave tread marks on defense players' backs.

Running Backs have roles in running the ball, catching, blocking plus wrecking havoc on yardage.

Wide Receivers catch zooming balls from the Quarterback. These guys have "superhero" speed plus they block, too.

Tight Ends have two roles. They can perform as Wide Receivers or as Offensive Linemen who protect Quarterbacks and block for Runners.

II. The Specialized Defense Team must stop opponents from scoring or gaining yardage.

The Defensive Line has 3 to 6 "massive giants" blocking the sun and creating darkness and pain along the line of scrimmage.

Linemen ("monster trucks") roll over running backs. They crash test "sack" the quarterback before he passes or hands off the ball.

Linebackers cause nightmares. They lurk behind the Defensive Linemen plus rush the quarterback or cover receivers.

Defensive Backs with superhero speed cover receivers and stop zooming passes plus rush quarterbacks!

III. The Specialized Special Team must score extra points.

Got a funky leg and foot, kid? Become a punter or place kicker to get those game saving extra points. Long snappers need pinpoint skills, too.

4. Players' Skills Levels

    Professional level

There are 32 US teams for wanna be professional players.
American football leagues are found in 50 countries!
Maybe you can sign with the German Football League (GFL) or the Japanese X-League.
Sports agents and lawyers help you make big money deals.

Football coloring kid, if you can't cut the professionals levels go to the semi-professional leagues. Or become a sports agent or lawyer! Don't play the fool, kid, study hard at the...

    College level

Your pro football training starts in college. Nearly every college and university has a football team and stadium.
You like crowds, football coloring kid? Go to a college game. If you get lost hold your tears, boy. Wait by the security station. After the last 60,000 to 100,000 fans leave your people can spot you!

    High School level

More high school boys play football than college guys play football.
High school leads to collegiate, then to professional level football careers, then to high paying TV commercials careers.
The high school sophomore year is when most players decide about a football career. Some professionals learned to play football in...

    Youth and Pee Wee level

Do 5 to 14 year old players have fans besides mom and dad? "Yes."

5. The Football Season

Can organized teams throw pigskin any ole time? No? That is right.

  • Football season starts in August.

  • Football runs you crazy until January pro playoffs

  • High school games are played on Fridays.

  • College games are played on Thursday and Saturday.

  • Professionals play on Sunday and Monday. We will...

Wrap it up, football coloring Kid...

Do you know about players' numbers?

  • 1-19 for Quarterbacks, Wide Receivers, Punters plus Kickers

  • 20 - 49: Running Backs plus Defensive Backs

  • 50 - 59: Centers plus Linebackers

  • 60 - 79: Defensive Linemen and Offensive Linemen

  • 80 - 89: Wide Receivers plus Tight Ends

  • 90 - 99: Defensive Linemen plus Linebackers

Now, you know the game of football, coloring Kid. You learned basic: football history, football fundamentals, organized football structure, players' skills levels, and the football season...

So get yourself into a game with other football coloring pages kids.

Play hard. Laugh Loud.

2011 NFL Division Predictions

NFL playoff 2010

NFL Free Agency and off-season trading has really reformed a lot of teams. The impact led me to writing updated NFL division predictions for the 2011 NFL season.

NFC North: Green Bay Packers (predicted record: 13-3). Green Bay had the biggest upside of the lockout because everybody else had to revitalize their teams in a short week. Instead the packers just cut a few salary cap eating players. I would definitely say that the packers should be back at the big dance this season. Detroit has a good chance with an awesome defensive line too. They should have a shot at wild card if QB Matthew Stafford can have a good year.

NFC West: Arizona Cardinals (predicted record: 10-6). The cardinals made a lot of bold moves in the off-season so far. They acquired Kevin Kolb, a superstar in the making from the Eagles, signing of 2-time pro bowler TE Todd Heap, and signing of LB Stewart Bradley. They also did very well in the draft filling most of their needs with CB Patrick Peterson (#5 overall pick), RB Ryan Williams (#38 overall pick), and TE Robert Housler (#69 overall pick) to name a few. Look out for Seattle too, they made some bold moves but lost out on their starting QB Matt Hasselbeck which I think drops them to 2nd in this division.

NFC East: Philadelphia Eagles (predicted record: 12-4). The Eagles by far have the best free agent class with pro bowl CB Nnamdi Asomugha, pro bowl DE Jason Babin, DE Cullen Jenkins, and backup QB Vince Young. They also acquired pro bowl CB Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie in the Kevin Kolb trade to the Cardinals. This division will give Eagles good competition but since the Eagles have the best secondary in this division, they should be able to shut out opponent wide receivers limiting big plays.

NFC South: Atlanta Falcons (predicted record: 12-4). The Falcons traded their whole draft this year for superstar in the making WR Julio Jones getting oohs and awes in practice. This will make for a deadly big play wide receiver duo that no corner back in the NFC South can stop. They also strengthened their pass rush with DE Ray Edwards playing opposite of pro bowl DE John Abraham. The Saints will pose the biggest threat with draftees and signings of RB Mark Ingram, RB Darren Sproles, and CB Fabian Washington.

AFC North: Baltimore Ravens (predicted record: 11-5). With Pittsburgh rolling over them in the playoffs they will look to make a splash in the competitive AFC North. They signed pro bowl FB Vonta Leach and got some good talent in the draft including a needed CB Jimmy Smith and WR Torrey Smith to summarize. The Steelers are the #1 threat to the Ravens but with Hines Ward declining in his old age they should look to capitalize.

AFC West: San Diego Chargers (predicted record: 12-4). Last year, the Chargers had a down year by not making the playoffs. They were hit with injuries and promising rookies having poor years. They should be able to get back up again with Vincent Jackson drama cleared up and him having a good year. The great QB Philip Rivers aimed for the moon last season and he got it with a career high in passing yards of 4,710 which probably will be duplicated this year. The Chiefs had a successful year last year but with Matt Cassel at QB, they won't be able to challenge San Diego.

AFC East: New England Patriots (predicted record: 14-2). Tom Brady won the MVP last season over scrambling Michael Vick with a TD to INT ratio at a historic level. The Patriots went big by trading for Chad Ochocinco and Albert Haynesworth which strengthen a poor ranked defense and gives them more depth at wide receiver. They looked like a contender last season but it proved too much pressure. The Jets threatened then slightly last season but not enough to make them feel pressured. The Jets will probably not threaten them at all this year losing out on some valuable free agents and with the emerging Dolphins going big this off-season also.

AFC South: Jacksonville Jaguars (predicted record: 11-5). With Peyton Manning at age 35 and having a new 5 year/$90 million deal leaving no cap space to get new players. The Jaguars should be able to gain on the aging Colts with power house RB Maurice-Jones Drew, 2 QB options of Blaine Gabbert and David Garrard, pro bowl TE Marcedes Lewis, and many good defensive players. Jacksonville may be able to get back on the road of success starting with this season.

To conclude, The AFC champ should be New England and the NFC champ should be Green Bay as both teams have good parts to win this season. I hope you are looking forward to this season as much as I am.

The Power of Confidence in Athletes

Nfl playoff scenarios

Self-confidence and how it affects athletes

Self-confidence is the "feeling of trust in one's abilities, qualities, and judgment" (Oxford Dictionary, 2008).

Or in sporting terms, confidence is "the belief that you can play a certain shot or achieve a certain goal, no matter what the circumstances are" (Kremer and Moran, 2008).

Athletes need to have confidence in their ability to be able to succeed in their sport. It is important to recognise that we all have the ability to have self-confidence: it can be trained and installed in us. Athletes with self-confidence will then be able to influence themselves and their sporting performance, as well as have influence over others, especially their competitors.

Athlete's who have optimal self-confidence will be able to perform better. Typically they will:

  • Be positive in their approach to their performance

  • Take risks to improve their performance

  • Keep an "always a winner" healthy mental attitude, even when they did not win a competition

  • Focus on the positives on their performance, rather than letting their negatives get them down

  • Take constructive criticism well

Psychologists refer to three different types of confidence:

  1. Diffidence

  2. Optimal self-confidence

  3. Over-confidence

Diffidence refers to a lack of self-confidence. Athletes who experience this are less likely to perform to their potential as they focus on the fear of failure and withdraw from the competition.

Children may suffer from this when they come up against other children who have better equipment (such as trainers or running spikes).

This lack of self-confidence will see athletes not only think they are going to fail, but also start making excuses for their performance before they even take part in their event.

Athletes with optimal self-confidence set realistic goals that they often achieve. They have the ability to look at their performance levels objectively and have the courage and heart to keep motivated and carry on with their training programmes and competitions.

Athletes who are over-confident, however, can experience a drop in their performance. Over-confidence can also be referred to as "false-confidence". This is because the athlete has a skewed mental image of how they can perform and what their abilities are. They may already believe that their technical abilities are the best they can be, and as such they won't improve their performance.

Self-doubt and how it affects athletes

Self-doubt is to have a "lack of confidence in oneself and one's abilities" (Oxford Dictionary, 2008).

Self-doubt and anxiety have a huge affect on an athlete's performance. This is particularly true for sports such as golf, or rugby, where the player focuses on an earlier bad shot or pass rather than thinking positively on the rest of the game. Dr Stephen Ball suggests that in this instance, the athlete replays the negative shots in their minds, rather than focusing on the positive shot they are yet to take.

Self-doubt destroys self-confidence. Athletes that are focused won't let their self-doubt and negative thoughts enter their mind, so their self-confidence remains strong.

However, those athletes that let self-doubt affect them will notice their technical skills diminish and will experience tentative behaviour, rather than their skills being automatic.

Self-doubt often affects athletes in competition, rather than during training. It is one of the contributors to under par performance during competition. Self-doubt affects athletes by affecting their mind negatively, or increasing the chance of injury or cramp during a critical moment.

Self-doubt affects how an athlete sees themselves in front of an external audience. They may suddenly not want to perform in front of people, and worry that they will look bad and even embarrass themselves in front of others.

Athletes that have confidence in their abilities are committed to win and perform to their best standard. However, those athletes affected by self-doubt do not commit 100 per cent to win and will accept near loss.

If an athlete with self-doubt wins their competition, they still do not accept it is due to their abilities, as they doubt their skills. They use language such as: "I guess I was lucky today." If they lose they don't critique their performance and look at ways to improve. They accept they lost and lose language like: "It was fun just to take part" and "I'm just glad to be here."

Some athletes are confident in their abilities at a lower competitive level, but will be affected by self-doubt if they reach say the semi-final stage. Although they have the skills to win, their self-doubt will affect them mentally. They may suffer from cramp, injury or just loss of concentration.

Lack of confidence and self-doubt will certainly affect an athlete's performance and commitment to their sport. Whilst they may seem to be improving during training, self-doubt will affect the athlete in a competitive environment.

How athletes can over come self-doubt and a lack of confidence

Self-confidence can be determined by an athlete's past performance. The athlete needs to adopt an "always a winner" mindset. They need to focus on and refer to their best performances, not necessarily their last performance.

There are a number of ways an athlete can over come their lack of confidence. These are discussed below.

An athlete should mentally visualise their previous good performances to remind themselves of how this made them feel, and what this performance looked like.

The athlete should also watch the performance of others (peers and sporting heroes on the television) and try to recreate what they have seen.

They also need to imagine various scenarios and work out how they would cope with them. This will make them feel prepared and increase their confidence.

The small beliefs we have in ourselves all contribute to our confidence levels. The athlete needs to consistently focus on their positive performances. This helps to affirm the notion that they can do it, and they can succeed.

Verbal persuasion and affirmations train the memory to think in a positive way. This can come from the coach or the athlete. The athlete can take the positive affirmations that the coach has said and keep repeating them in their mind.

The repetition of a positive statement or belief should become the athlete's mantra. They need to visualise themselves acting out this statement. For example: "I am the greatest" (Mohammed Ali).

If the coach is giving constructive feedback to an athlete, they need to ensure this is done in a positive way as this could damage the confidence of that athlete. The athlete needs to learn to ignore comments that are not constructive and helpful, or are not from a knowledgeable source.

The easiest way to overcome a lack of self-confidence is to heavily focus on all the positives of the athlete. The coach needs to discuss with the athlete their performances and current achievements in a way that motivates them and installs confidence, not discourages them. For example, the athlete and coach will:

  • Discuss the athletes' performance in a rational and non-emotional way

  • Discuss the things that can be changed to help the athlete improve - these are small manageable things

  • Discuss and highlight the things that were good in the athletes' performance

  • Discuss the athletes' achievements to date

  • Discuss a new route to achieve the athletes' goal(s)

  • Discuss the positive performance of the other players/ competitors

The athlete needs to be honest when reviewing their performance: this means looking at the positives and the negatives. Too many athletes will only focus on the negatives if they did not perform the way they wanted to. They need to ensure they look at the good things in their performance, as well as reviewing past performances and what was good about them.

The athlete needs to write and focus on specific achievable goals. This makes the challenge manageable and will motivate the athlete to achieve their personal goals.

To improve self-confidence, the athlete should also look at controlling their emotional arousal. By training their mind to view emotional symptoms such ad butterflies and increased heart rate as a positive sign, they will be able to perform better and with more confidence. The athlete needs to ensure they don't lose control: if they do this then they can maintain their confidence.

Fulltilt Wakeboards

Nfl playoff scenarios

The demand for quality wakeboards aimed at adhering towards the advanced features and maneuvers that people can do on water has been so far answered with the influx of fulltilt wakeboards released in the market today. One thing about fulltilt wakeboards is that it is targeted at providing the advanced riders a better ride and flexibility when they are in the water. Additionally, with such features contained outside that of the ordinary wakeboards available in the market today, fulltilt wakeboards aims to widen the roster of wakeboards, regardless of their size and weight.

The Ideal Weight of Wakeboarders

It there is one thing that wakeboarders should be wary of is that of maintaining the proper weight for the wakeboards to be used at its finest. Fulltilt wakeboards would usually come in larger size, lessening the worries of people who may have forgotten to retain and trim down their body weight which most of the time is a telling contributor with regards to taking up the sport professionally and leisurely.

Fulltilt wakeboards offer advanced features such as fins and controls that allow the flexibility of navigation. In most cases, the genre of wakeboards would not matter for the beginners hence making fulltilt boards catering towards the advanced and professional wakeboarders present today.

Weight has been considered something relevant for enjoying wakeboarding properly. A mixture of some computations as far as velocity and ideal weights is something that people will surely want to consider since body weight alone is something that a person may not be controlled properly overall.

The Issue of Navigation

For larger built people, navigation such as turns may not be easy without proper assistance and presence of aids on wakeboards. This is what the fulltilt wakeboard offers, the ability to stir and navigate easily which standard wakeboards to not have.

It is in these scenarios that overweight wakeboarders who forget to trim down and watch their weight, becomes a hindrance for them to go on their own wakeboard itinerary, largely when the go on vacation. Such would be a shame for the, especially for people who look forward to such rare opportunities of wakeboarding. Most people can only take up the habit during breaks and vacations at specified areas where people are hooked on this different kind of water sport.

Fulltilt wakeboards make life entirely easier for the enthusiastic wakeboarder who will have no worries of anything at anytime of his convenience once wakeboarding season comes. Limitations focused on certain factors such as ability, weight and controls are the identified obstacles that stand in their way and with fulltilt wakeboards, such has been covered. This is one reason why people would ideally lean towards fulltilt wakeboards overall since they offer more leniency and flexibility once the need to worry about such constraints set in. With fulltilt wakeboards, most of the issues have been addressed and provide any wakeboarder to go on his rant for the sport at any time, any day and any place he wishes and wants to
