NFL Playoffs Wild Card Weekend - Cowboys Vs Eagles - Trends You Should Know

Well it's that time of year again where the NFL regular season has come to a close and the playoffs are about to begin. What's great about NFL football is that the end of it all we have a true winner unlike with NCAA college football where there is always controversy on who the real number one team is. One of the match ups for this upcoming weekend is the game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. If you are a sports bettor then here are some trends you may want to consider before making your wagers this weekend.

Top Game Trends:

Since 1992 the Dallas Cowboys have a record of 69-46 versus the spread against conference opponents

During the past 2 seasons the Philadelphia Eagles are 18-9 ATS against conference opponents

The Eagles are 14-4 Against the Spread coming off a divisional game over the past three seasons of play

When coming off of a loss, Philadelphia has a record of 51-27 against their opponent since 1992

Head to Head Series Trends:

The Dallas Cowboys are 3-3 versus the spread against the Eagles over the past 3 seasons

Over the past 3 season the Cowboys have a straight up record of 4-2 against Philadelphia

During the past 3 seasons, 50% or 3 out of 6 games have gone over the total

History has a way of repeating itself when it comes to picking games for NFL football. Although there are no guarantees, taking some of these trends into consideration may just be the help you need to be profitable this playoff season. Good Luck!

NFL Week 5 Handicapping Point Spread First Look

NFL week 4 was the week of the home underdogs which is one of our dozens of winning trends that we preach to our subscribers and readers as far as winning handicapping formulas. In all there were 9 home underdogs last week and 5 of them covered. Home underdogs have covered at a nearly 60 percent clip since 2000 and the trick to is to identify which ones have the best chance to cover. We successfully picked 6 of the 9 correctly and if Alex Smith doesn't get hurt on the first play of the game, you can bet the 49ers would have been much more competitive against the Seahawks. Now we go on to Week 5 and below is our first impression of the betting lines of the week with our picks to come later in the week.

Arizona Cardinals (-3) VS. ST. LOUIS RAMS: Home underdog alert here but the Rams are an absolute mess. They are desperate however and this game looks like th Bills scenario last week against the Jets when they covered and won. The Cardinals are playing well however but they could letdown here on the road after a huge win against the Steelers on Sunday.

Baltimore Ravens (-3) VS. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS: Another home underdog here as the 49ers start the awful Trent Dilfer. The Ravens lost last week as a road favorite against the Browns and back-to-back road games are always a betting negative.

DENVER BRONCOS (-1.5) VS. San Diego Chargers: Tough one here as both teams come in off a loss. Broncos very inconsistent and the Chargers are seriously doubting themselves.

GREEN BAY PACKERS (-3) VS. Chicago Bears: The Packers survived a very negative scenario last week in Minnesota and now look to go 5-0 at home against the Bears. Chicago is a mess right now and they are very desperate. Could be desperate enough to steal one here.

HOUSTON TEXANS (-5.5) VS. Dolphins: Texans are hurting without WR Andre Johnson and the Dolphins are just terrible after being run over by the Raiders. 5.5 is a lot of points but the Dolphins can't score.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (-10) VS. Tampa Bay Bay Buccaneers: Interesting game here as the surprising Buc's go into Indy to face the 4-0 Colts. Indy looks like a machine once again and they have played nearly perfect football. They can be prone to letdown's at home if they are giving 10 or more as they are here but the Buc's might be hurting with the loss of Cadillac Williams.

Jacksonville Jaguars (-2) VS. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS: The Chiefs shocked the Chargers last week and this team always plays tough. Jaguars won in Denver and then come in off a bye. Winning two in a row on the road is always tough but the Chiefs could letdown here. This is also another home underdog game to look at.

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (-16) VS. Cleveland Browns: The Pats are a perfect 4-0 ATS and theye look unstoppable. This line is not too high in that they covered the same number against the Bills two weeks ago. The Browns are playing better but they struggle on the road.

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (-3) VS. Carolina Panthers: Its now or never for the Saints as they come off a bye and a loss at home the week before. Losing two in a row with such a talented team is rare but the Panthers might get Jake Delhomme back which would aid their chances in this game.

NY GIANTS (-3.5) VS. NY Jets: Desperation angle at work here for the Jets as they must win to stay in the playoff hierarchy. The Giants are very confident after their huge win against the Eagles however and they are playing their best ball in quite awhile.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS (-6) VS. Seattle Seahawks: Steelers are in rebound mode after losing in Arizona last week. Seattle is hot right now and they are very confident after beating the 49ers into submission on Sunday.

TENNESSEE TITANS (-9) VS. Atlanta Falcons: The Titans have covered nine straight games and they go home to face a weak Falcons squad. This spread is high though since Tennessee is not a high-scoring team. Also the Falcons are playing better.

WASHINGTON REDSKINS (-3.5) VS. Detroit Lions: Tough one to call as both teams have issues. Lions can't stop anyone but they can score at will. The Redskins can't score but they play tough defense.

Dallas Cowboys (-10) VS. BUFFALO BILLS: Home underdog scenario which is what the Bills were in as they covered and won last week against the Jets. The Cowboys keep rolling along and their offense looks unstoppable.

Green Bay Packers 2010 Strength of Schedule, Futures, Odds and Predictions

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The '09 season has to be considered pretty successful for the Packers, as they won five more games than in 2008 (Aaron Rodgers' first year as the starting QB) and earned a playoff spot before their defense was gutted by Kurt Warner in the Wild-Card round against the Arizona Cardinals.

That game did show what Green Bay really has in store for 2010 and what could be a big concern. On the bright side, Rodgers was nearly as good as Warner in that game and Rodgers emerged as a Top 5 quarterback during the regular season, ranking fourth in the NFL in yards (4,434), rating (103.2), touchdown passes (seven) and with the fewest interceptions (seven) of any quarterback with at least 200 attempts. Pretty much all of Rodgers' weapons from last year are back although 35-year-old No. 2 WR Donald Driver might be slowing down as he tailed off in a big way at the end of last season.

Warner went balistic on the Green Bay secondary, especially with Al Harris hurt. Charles Woodson and Harris, one of the best tandems in the NFL for years, are both getting up there in age with Woodson turning 34 this season and Harris during 36. I'm probably picking too much on Woodson considering he was named the NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 2009 and had nine picks and three TDs. Plus he reportedly re-dedicated himself this offseason. Harris, however, is coming off major knee surgery that ended his 2009 season early.

That Green Bay defense will be down two key players this season as Aaron Kampman, a two-time Pro Bowler, is now in Jacksonville (he also suffered a season-ending injury in November last season) and Johnny Jolly was suspended without pay for 2010 after violating the league's substance abuse policy. Although if there's one area the Pack can withstand a few hits, it's probably on the defensive line.

The oddsmakers have Green Bay's wins total at 9.5 for NFL season win totals. What's the best bet there? Let's check the 2010 Green Bay Packers schedule (all times Eastern):

Week 1: Sunday, Sep. 12, at Philadelphia, 4:15 PM
Week 2: Sunday, Sep. 19, Buffalo, 1:00 PM
Week 3: Monday, Sep. 27, at Chicago, 8:30 PM
Week 4: Sunday, Oct. 3, Detroit, 1:00 PM
Week 5: Sunday, Oct. 10, at Washington, 1:00 PM
Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 17, Miami, 1:00 PM
Week 7: Sunday, Oct. 24, Minnesota, 8:20 PM
Week 8: Sunday, Oct. 31, at NY Jets, 1:00 PM
Week 9: Sunday, Nov. 7, Dallas, 8:20 PM
Week 10: BYE
Week 11: Sunday, Nov. 21, at Minnesota, 1:00 PM
Week 12: Sunday, Nov. 28, at Atlanta, 1:00 PM
Week 13: Sunday, Dec. 5, San Francisco, 1:00 PM
Week 14: Sunday, Dec. 12, at Detroit, 1:00 PM
Week 15: Sunday, Dec. 19, at New England, 8:20 PM
Week 16: Sunday, Dec. 26, NY Giants, 4:15 PM
Week 17: Sunday, Jan. 2, Chicago, 1:00 PM

This schedule ranks as the 22nd hardest in the NFL with an opponents' 2009 cumulative winning percentage of.488 (125-131).

Checking the football betting lines for the first six games, there's really no reason Green Bay should be any worse than 4-2. The Pack get the benefit of being the first opponent of new Eagles starter Kevin Kolb (that game is currently a 'pick'em'), and nobody knows who the quarterback of the Bills will be. The Packers swept the Bears last season by nearly identical scores (21-14 and 21-15), and that matchup will be in prime time for the fifth straight season with the first meeting between the two being No. 180 in the all-time series. This is the 18th consecutive season the Packers have appeared on "Monday Night Football," the NFC's longest streak.

The Pack better be no worse than 4-2 because they could easily fall into a three-game skid (albeit unlikely) entering the bye week with games against Super Bowl contenders in the Vikings, Jets and Cowboys. Of course, that Minnesota game will be Brett Favre's second-ever game as a visitor at Lambeau. He led the Vikings to a 30-23 win over Green Bay in a Monday night game at Minnesota last season and then a 38-28 win at Lambeau.

Green Bay has the benefit of an extra week to prepare for the rematch with Minnesota (the Vikes aren't off the same week) in a game that could well determine the NFC North. Week 10 is the latest a team can have a bye, by the way, and it's the latest the Pack have ever had theirs. Four road games in five weeks is pretty rare, but Green Bay is 18-11 overall on the road under Mike McCarthy from Nov. 15 and beyond. Then the Packers finish with back-to-back home games for only the second time since 1923. Since 1998, the Packers have finished the season against the Bears three times, all of them victories in Chicago.

NFL Handicapping makes this look like a 10-6-type schedule for Green Bay, which may or may not be enough to win the NFC North (I predicted 10-6 for Minnesota as well), but it should be enough for a return trip to the playoffs. Green Bay is currently a slight favorite (+125) over the Vikings to win the North and +650 to win the NFC (tied with Minnesota behind New Orleans and Dallas).

Fantasy Hockey Players Warnings For 2010-11

Information is key if you want to dominate your fantasy hockey draft. Here are some players with major risk factors, that you should be wary of drafting, and in some cases, you should strike him from your list completely.

Offense

Maxim Afinogenov ATL

Afinogenov signed on to play in the KHL. So you may want to avoid drafting him, eh?

David Krejci BOS

After putting up 73 points in 2008-09, Krejci had a let down last year, dipping to 52. He had a good run in the playoffs; however, off-season surgery on his wrist may slow him down at the start of the season. If he's healthy to start the season, he should rebound in fantasy value, but keep an eye on his status before you draft.

Tomas Plekanec MON

Plekanec was a fantasy star in the first half of last season, only to slow down as the year progressed. He disappeared in the playoffs, registering just 11 points in 19 games. He's been very inconsistent over his career to this point, seeing point totals of 47, 69, 39, and 70 over the past four seasons. Following that pattern, he's scheduled for a downturn.

Defense

Marc-Andre Bergeron (UFA)

Since entering the league, Bergeron has carried expectations of developing into a offensive-defenseman. While it's come in spurts, he has yet to reach any noteworthy milestones in terms of points. However, he has put up some decent goal totals the last two seasons. Assuming he resigns with Montreal (big assumption) he could get plenty of powerplay time with Markov on the shelf. Until he signs a deal, he's a risky option. He's also had a history of injury to add to his risk factor.

Denis Grebeshkov NAS

Grebeshkov signed with the KHL. So don't draft him, sucker.

Joni Pitkanen CAR

Pitkanen is one of those players that always seems to be capable of more, so you're tempted to give him one more chance. When healthy and on his game, he's a dynamic offensive player; however, 46 points is the most he's achieved in one season, which he did again last year. Playing on a rebuilding Hurricanes roster won't add to his value either, so budget for 40 points and hope for more.

Sheldon Souray EDM

Charting Souray's goal and point totals will give you a headache: over the past 5 years, he's scored 12, 26, 3, 23, and 4. A lot of that is due to injury, but you also have to consider the impact of his relationship with the Oilers right now. Souray has asked to be traded, so if he remains, how effective will he be? He's also 34 years old, which isn't a positive thing for an injury-prone defenseman. His goal potential is tempting, but proceed with caution.

Goalies

Jean-Sebastien Giguere TOR

As a team, the Maple Leafs have assembled a top notch defense. So from that perspective, drafting a Toronto goalie could be a respectable option for the first time in a decade. On the other hand, it's 50/50 on which goalie you should pick. Giguere and Gustavsson are in a dead heat for the job and will likely split the starts until one gets hot. Burke obviously likes Giguere, so he may have a slight edge, but you may want to watch training camp before making your choice. Either way, look for improved numbers from Giguere this season.

Jonas Gustavsson TOR

(See J.S. Giguere). Classic split crease scenario with two goalies apt to get injured. Whoever gets the starts should deliver good fantasy numbers, so if you draft one, you may want to pocket the other on your bench.

Ray Emery (UFA)

Still waiting to find a home...

Semyon Varlamov WAS

With Theodore leaving town, most GMs assume Varlamov is the guy. And who wouldn't want the starting goalie for the President's Trophy winning team on their roster? The problem here is that Varlamov has done very little to prove he's here to stay as the Capitals top goalie. He may be pushed this fall by Michael Neuvirth, and if neither of them can shine, don't be surprised to see Washington deal for #1. If he can keep the job, Varlamov will get his wins, but there are much safer options out there.

Afronman Palmdale + Lyrics

Just like bums, we used to stay in the slums of LA by the way Gang-bangers killin' each other for rep, sellin' rock cocaine on my doorstep Had a ball to bounce plus a bike to ride, but my mama never would let me play outside. But when I got enrolled in elementary school, started bangin' like a fuckin' fool. So cool, throwin' up gang signs to the gangster beat, shot an enemy from across the street Mama came home, said she got a good job. Daddy did too. Now they don't squab. Financially, we improvin'. 2 months later, son, we movin'. No more duckin' from shotgun shells. Bought a two-story house in East Palmdale. (give it to me now.) Palmdale, come back to me. I need you and I love you, baby. Palmdale, come back to me. (Check it out, check it out, check it out.) No more rats and no more roaches, livin' next door to football coaches. Now I got a new place to sell me crack. Now I got little white kids to jack. I stopped wearin' blue, wasn't trippin' on red. Too busy squabbin' with the skinheads. Stupid questions, distract the class. Rubbin' little white girls on the ass. I didn't really care if I passed or failed, I knew I was headed for the NFL, Until the playoff game, shoulder got hurt. I thought about my future, layin' in the dirt. I can't jump, I can't flinch. Superstar player, ridin' the bench. Graduate from school? Don't make me laugh. I got an F+ in basic math. The Myth of Tim Hightower

When discussing the rise of future superstar running back Beanie Wells, many people often point out that Wells will have a difficult time living up to his bidding, because he will be sharing carries with Arizona incumbent Tim Hightower. There is an obvious talent gap between Wells and Hightower, but people often cite that Hightower will be difficult to take off the field because he is such a good goaline and short yardage runner.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is a myth. It is true that Hightower has a goaline and short yardage conversion rate of 50% over the last two years, which puts him amongst the top of the league, even ahead of guys like Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones Drew, and Steven Jackson, and Hightower optimists are quick to point this out. However, how much of that is Tim Hightower, and how much is it just the Arizona Cardinals run blocking and system in general? Let's examine further.

Tim Hightower entered the league in 2008 and immediately had success in short yardage situations, giving him the stigma of a short yardage (and receiving) specialist. However, did you know that Arizona's other two running backs over the last two years have actually performed better than Hightower in that area?

Exhibit A is Edgerrin James. Let me tell you a little something about Edgerrin James' history at the goaline. Do you remember that magical, 49 touchdown season that Peyton Manning have? Well, you have Edgerrin James' struggles at the goaline to thank for that. You see, through six games in that magical 2004 season, no one was talking about Peyton Manning breaking the TD record. If anything, all eyes were on Daunte Culpepper, who was blowing Manning out of the water.

Meanwhile, in Indy, Edgerrin James was on pace to set the record for most goaline carries in a season. He had more than 20 in a mere six games. But, with those 20 carries, he had but a couple touchdowns to show for it, and was among the league's worst (beating out only Warrick Dunn) in short yardage conversion ratio. So Indy decided to take the ball away from Edge and give it to Peyton. After getting more than 20 goaline attempts in his first six games, Edge got only six more in the final ten games of the season. Of course, those attempts instead went to Peyton, who eventually set the NFL record for touchdown passes.

Peyton Manning only set the record for touchdowns in 2004 because Edgerrin James was so bad at the goaline that they abandoned the run down there all together. That should give you some context as to how poor a goaline runner Edgerrin James is. His career conversion rate at the stripe is under 30%. But in 2008, on the Arizona Cardinals, Edgerrin James converted more than 60% of his short yardage rushes. In 2009, Beanie Well came aboard, and converted 60% of his short yardage rushes as well.

Now that we know an unknown rookie and an aging vet who was one of the worst goaline runners in the league both converted 60% of their short yardage rushes on the same team that Hightower converted 50% of his on, it gives us some perspective. Hightower's short yardage numbers look good compared to the rest of the league, but he doesn't play on the same team as the rest of the league, and the guys who do play in the same team, with the same run blockers, both were better than Hightower in short yardage situations, even though one of them had a history of being poor in that respect.

So, what makes the Cardinals so good in short yardage situations? It could be the run blocking, or more likely, it could be that the threat of Fitzgerald, Boldin, and Warner kept teams from stacking the box too much even in short yardage situations. Whatever it is, it is most certainly not that they just happen to have the three best short yardage running backs in the league, one of whom has proven time and time again that he is actually poor in that scenario.

Hightower is the benefactor of a good situation, nothing more.

Watch NFL Games From Internet - Watch Free Football Matches Online

Image : http://www.flickr.com

How do you watch NFL on your computer

The new technology of internet TV has enabled more than 5 million people in the USA alone to watch satellite TV on their PCs. I personally tried watching the internet TV after I couldn't manage to convince my family that my NFL playoffs were a matter of life and death. There is nothing as hard as convincing your kids or your wife that the family TV is better when used to watch sports like the NFL games.

Try reasoning with them and you will get to know why you get to buy the TVs but forfeit the right to watch it the minute it gets home. At home you are considered an adult and adults don't watch TV... your kid will reason out, and sorry no watching your game tonight.

National Football League on your pc

It was the beginning of last years NFL playoffs and I could not get an opportunity to watch the games from the family TV. I bought one of those satellite TV softwares and installed it in my laptop. The software has made it possible for me to watch the National Football League matches from virtually anywhere. Whenever there is a game, all I do is go to my home office, laptop in tow; connect it to the internet and use the already installed software to watch all my matches in the privacy of my home office.

Sometimes when I'm feeling abit tired, I decide to watch the playoffs from my bedroom. All I need is to extend the internet cable into my bedroom.

These online TV services are also available for you if you want to catch the NBA or NFL games without making enemies with everyone else at home. Or better still if you are traveling and want to watch favorite football games on the internet. I want to show you the service that I have been using to connect to internet TV so that you may also be able to enjoy your games in private.

Satellite TV Softwares for Watching the NFL Series

There are many online TV softwares being sold on the internet which are just BS. You see, internet TV reception is a tricky affair and most of these companies haven't really mastered how to deliver quality picture and sound. Most of them don't even care the quality of service you get after you buy their "software".

I want to assure you that there are still a few good companies that pioneered the development of satellite TV softwares. These offer good service and the quality of their programs is high. Finding the good ones can however be a challenge that may take you forever before getting the right company.

Watching the NFL games with PC 2007Elite Edition

The service that I have relied upon to watch my NFL games is the Elite Edition 2007. They have many sports channels including the NFL playoffs among the many other thousands channels. In addition, the company has also put together radio stations, which you can listen to as you work at home or in the office. The variety of sports channels include ESPN, Euro sports and other extreme sports not shown on normal TV like raw Thailand kickboxing and others.

I used this service last year to watch the super bowl and the other matches of the NFL Series without skipping a single playoff. The good thing is that I was able to record the semis and the finals into my laptop which I kept rerunning way past the end of the season.

In addition I also get to watch many other TV channels including educational, shopping, science, geographical, music videos, among many others. The software also has TV channels from over 70 other countries around the world and in different languages. There are also many soccer channels from Europe, Americas, and Africa.

All this variety in TV channels has a set up cost of $49.95 for the initial start up. The company does not charge any other monthly fees ever after the initial charge. The $49.95 is all you will ever need to pay to watch all the NFL games you want and in a way seems like a steal of a deal.

You can get the same service that I'm enjoying instantly by following the links "RIGHT HERE!" Robert is a self-confessed fan of TV and writes free TV over internet review articles. Or grab the "SATELLITE TV FOR PC 2007 ELITE EDITION"

How to Make Money Sports Betting - Expert Insider Tips to Make Money Sports Betting

There is little in life that is guaranteed, especially when it comes to gambling in order to make money sports betting. However, you can follow some simple advice that experts use to give you the upper hand when choosing your picks.

I have listed 3 tips EVERY sports gambler should take into account when analyzing a potential pick, and each of these could be the deciding factor in determining whether you pull the trigger or whether you wait for something better to come along.

Tip #1 - Pay attention to Team Chemistry

A team being loaded with big time players doesn't necessarily mean they have a good team. And conversely, if a team is loaded with no names, it doesn't mean they are weak. A good example of this is the New England Patriots a few years back when they lost practically all their starting secondary, replacing them with a bunch of no names.

They even had a receiver (Troy Brown) filling in as DB on dime coverages. This rat tag bunch managed to shut teams down, and their defense was just as strong as they were in previous years. The Patriots ended up winning the Super Bowl that year thanks, in large part, to the dominant performance of their defense .

An example from the opposite side of the spectrum would be the New York Yankees. Each year they have the highest payroll in baseball and on paper, they look unstoppable. Yet, they did not even make the playoffs this year.

In order to make money sports betting you need to be able to pinpoint these types of scenarios and hit a few games where the spread maybe off because the public will go with the personnel on a team, but not how well that personnel plays as a team.

Tip #2 - Pay attention to Team Momentum

Winning and losing can be contagious, and a teams general frame of mind can be affected by their winning or losing ways. A team can generate a winning attitude by starting off the season strong, and that can carry them through the entire season.

In order to make money sports betting, you should be able to pick out the potential teams who have the momentum on their side. The key is to be able to jump on these opportunities at the right time.

Tip #3 - Pay attention to Home Field Advantage

There are a lot of teams that play completely differently on the road vs at home. It is important to recognize which teams can play a solid game at home and which teams can play just as well on the road. Once a pattern is recognized you should be able to make money sports betting by jumping on the opportunities home field advantage provides.

For example, the Arizona Cardinals from about 2004-2007 were a very solid team when playing at home, but they were a completely different team on the road. Throughout their season, there were plenty of opportunities to take advantage of this pattern in order to make money sports betting.

If you play close attention to these variables, I have no doubt that you will see your profits skyrocket as you begin to make money sports betting.

NFL Picks and Football Predictions - Chicago Bears Preview For the 2010 Season

Image : http://www.flickr.com

This will be a make or break year for the Chicago Bears and head coach Lovie Smith's last chance to put a solid product on the field to make the Bears a playoff team. The Bears have spent the big money this off season as they now have marquee players on their team that should make an impact. Last season the Bears acquired quarterback Jake Cutler who is supposed to be one of the elite up and coming quarterbacks in this league although he did not perform as expected and this year they signed Julius Peppers to a whopping 91.5 million dollar contract.

Jake Cutler and the Bears offensive struggled last year with no consistency making too many mistakes as Cutler lead the league with 26 interceptions and 35 sacks. Cutler is a quarterback with big time arm who can make plays witnessed by his 3,666 yards and 27 touchdowns so the addition of the new offensive coordinator Mike Martz should put him in a better position to succeed in 2010. Martz is a known as an offensive genius amongst NFL experts bringing a resume that lead the league in offense for three years while finishing in the top ten in points six times from 1999-2005 with Kurt Warner and Marc Bulger.

Martz is the right coach to orchestrate this Bear offensive as they do not have a true go to player. The receiving core consists of Devin Hester, Earl Bennet and Johnny Knox while they will have a running back combination in Matt Forte and Chester Taylor who was brought over form the Minnesota Vikings. The Bears success on offense will have to come by a controlled distribution of the ball and Martz will put Cutler in good situation to do so.

The defense which will be solid with the addition of Julius Peppers and big play defenders in Lance Briggs, Hunter Hillenmeyer, Brian Urlacher and tackle Tommie Harris. The Bears laid it on the line this off season spending fifty-five million dollars in guaranteed money while changing both their offensive and defensive coordinators. Our NFL experts for NFL picks predict that if Peppers can bring his 10 ½ sacks or better this year, the Bears investment will pay off and they will get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2006.

Watch The Superbowl Game Online - Do This So You Don't Miss The Big Game

How to watch NFL Football League Games Online

Do you get bored at work? Now you can watch NFL football games online. If you have an internet connection at home or at work, then you have the option to watch TV in a different way. Did you know you can watch live NFL football games online, download them, or record them to watch later? The only things you need are a laptop or desktop computer, a high speed internet connection and TV for PC software. Watch regular season football, NFL playoff games or even watch the Superbowl game online.

Watch NFL Football Games on the Internet

Internet television is the new home and office entertainment media. With this inexpensive piece of software downloaded to your laptop or pc, it's possible to watch both major sporting events as well as popular extreme sports and European games. Even international adult TV channels are available.

Most major television networks and a rapidly expanding number of more premium type channels are streaming free to air television feeds of their programming to the internet. This is not only happening in America, but all around the world. The largest advantage of internet TV feeds is that you can watch your favorite sports channels even when you're away from home. NFL football games are only the tip of the iceberg in entertainment options.

If you want uninterrupted online sports viewing, and let's face it there's no point in watching TV online if you have to constantly wait for the channel to load or reload, then you should double check your PC for certain specifications. As long as your computer isn't more than 3 or 4 years old, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. The ideal amount of RAM for streaming television feeds is 520MB. You should also have at least 300MHz of processing speed in order to be certain you will get continuous video picture flow. The only other thing you really need is a fast internet connection and broadband is the best option.

Watch National Football League Playoffs

Any type of computer monitor will work with the TV for PC software. Although an LCD computer screen does give you a sharper image, a normal projection type screen will do just fine. Don't stress over all the technical stuff unless your computer is more than about 3 or 4 years old because chances are your computer is already equipped with everything you need.

Online Sports TV Made Easy with Titanium Edition TV for PC

Your last detail to take care of is to install the software that will decode the feeds and organize them into an easy to use interface. Fortunately the software you will need is available online. It's inexpensive, easy to install and ready for immediate download.

You do need to make sure that you're getting a good quality product. Titanium Edition TV for PC gets high recommendations for several reasons. It has the largest number of channels, excellent customer service available 24/7, and there is a money back guarantee if you don't like it.

Watching Sports TV Shows with PC 2007 Titanium

I use and recommend PC TV 2007 Titanium Edition for watching NFL, NHL, NBA or major league baseball games online with your laptop. At home, I connect my laptop to the television in my bedroom and watch the games on my regular TV set because I don't have cable in that room. Now I don't need it and don't have to bother with the expense of having it installed.

If your business travel or a vacation takes you out of the country, you don't have to worry about missing your favorite team play. Even if you're stuck in meetings while the game is on, you can simply program the software to save the game and then watch it later in your hotel room. It's a handy little piece of software to have downloaded to your laptop when you travel.

Not only is it possible to catch American football games from wherever you are, but you can also watch Canadian football, World Cup soccer and even English cricket and rugby matches with a wave of your mouse. The very best part is that you can save every game, burn them to disc and create your very own NFL game video library just like the pros do!

If you want to watch the superbowl online plus catch all the other major league sports action you can handle, then download PC 2007 Titanium Edition and watch every game right here!

Eagles-Saints Saturday Night NFC Divisional Playoff

It's time to start thinking about tomorrow night's Philadelphia Eagles-New Orleans Saints NFC Divisional Playoff matchup. The Eagles enter the divisional round as the hottest team in the NFC having won six straight games including their first round win over the New York Giants. Can they keep flying high against the heavenly Saints down in the bayou? Jimmy Boyd is all over Saturday night's premier week two playoff matchup with his five Star NFC Divisional Playoff Best Bet.

It would make a great story wouldn't it? The lowly Saints rose up from the doldrums surrounding Hurricane Katrina and a dead end franchise to capture a division title and a Super Bowl breathing life back into a decimated community. Let's not count our chickens before they hatch. There's no doubt that the Saints have virtually crossed an ocean to get to this point, but are they ready to beat an Eagles team which has been to the big game?

The Saints have just one playoff win in their 40-year history coming at home back in 2000 against the St. Louis Rams, but it wasn't experience that got them to this point and I don't think experience will be the determining factor in this game. If it is, then we should chalk one up for Philly. In this game, the offenses will shine, as they have all season long for the top two offenses in the NFL.

Drew Brees led the NFL with 4,418 passing yards and finished second in the MVP voting to L.T. Three-time Pro Bowler Jeff Garcia has returned to Pro Bowl form after losing the starting job in Detroit. Both of these players have made all the big plays for their respective teams to get them to this point, but this game could come down to which team can mount the best ground attack.

New Orleans ranks just twenty-third in the league against the run allowing 128.9 yards per game. Brian Westbrook is coming off his best game ever in the playoffs rushing for 141 yards and a touchdown. Perhaps, Westbrook will be Philly's best opportunity to torch the Saints' defense.

Philly has shared much of the same fate against the run this season. The Eagles rank twenty-sixth in the league against the run and will have to deal with 1,000 yard rusher Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush this week. Perhaps, the Saints will try to establish the run to set up the pass and that will be their key to victory.

These teams last met earlier this season back in mid-October down in New Orleans with the Saints prevailing 27-24 on a John Carney field goal in the closing seconds. Both Philly and New Orleans are different teams now. That was when the Saints were unbeaten at home winning their first three games in New Orleans before losing four of their last five. That was when McNabb was still under center for the Eagles. It was Philly's first loss of a stretch where it would lose five of six games.

At that time, these teams were pretty evenly matched as the game on October fifteenth would indicate. Now, one team clearly has the edge over the other and it just might not be who you'd expect. Make sure you're on board with Jimmy Boyd for Saturday night's NFC Divisional Playoff Best Bet. If you're looking for that one big time winner this weekend, Jimmy Boyd has it.

Analyzing the Fantasy Football Impact From the 2009 Draft

2008 represented a tremendous year for rookies in terms of fantasy football. I know because I rode 2 of them (Chris Johnson and Matt Forte) to a league championship. What will the draft class of 2009 have in store for fantasy owners come this fall? Personally, I don't believe that this years class is talented as last years but time will tell. The following represent my preliminary takes regarding the 2009 draft class:
--Matthew Stafford QB (DET)

What kind of pro QB will Stafford be? Will he be like Matt Ryan and Joe Flacco or will his fate be more similar to Tim Couch or Joey Harrington? Fantasy owners likely won't have a chance to find out next season. Although Lions coach Jim Schwartz said he will keep an open mind in the battle for the top spot on the depth chart, more than likely Daunte Culpepper will be the starting QB for Detroit when they open the season against the Saints in the Superdome September, 13th. That scenario doesn't allow Stafford much of a chance to make an impact in fantasy circles. Moreover, it's hard to envision a scenario where he comes out and has any value as a rookie. Ryan and Flacco were both fifth-year seniors coming out of college and possessed much more maturity heading into the NFL than the underclassman Stafford does. Stafford's value will be limited to keeper and dynasty leagues on fantasy Draft Day.

--Knowshon Moreno RB (DEN)

Searching for 2009's top fantasy rookie? Well, look no further than Moreno. Moreno is by far the most talented running back in the 2009 class and I expect him to come right in and become the starter for the Broncos. Although, the Broncos did add several veteran RB's this past off season none of them have nearly the same talent as Moreno. I see Moreno as a No. 3 fantasy runner in 2009 with potential for more. However, because of the depth the Broncos have at the position, the former Bulldog is more likely to be seen as a viable flex starter in most drafts. Obviously, he's also a tremendous option in keeper and dynasty leagues.

--Chris "Beanie" Wells RB (AZ)

The Arizona Cardinals took the Ohio State power back with their first round selection, setting up an interesting depth chart battle this summer. Most pundits believe that Wells is the 2nd best RB prospect in the draft behind Moreno. Furthermore, Wells is a definite upgrade over Tim Hightower and I expect Wells to emerge atop the team's depth chart as a rookie leaving Hightower to serve as third-down back for the defending NFC champions. Whoever gets the goal line carries will obviously hold more fantasy value than the other but right now I see Wells as the better option in seasonal and keeper leagues. Both Wells and Moreno will have difficulty reaching the standards set by Johnson, Forte and Slaton from a year ago.

--Michael Crabtree WR (SF)

The Raiders loss is the 49ers gain. After the Raiders passed on Crabtree you know SF would eat him right up and they did. Crabtree was hailed as the top wideout in the draft, and he will undoubtedly have a chance to start as a rookie under coach Mike Singletary. The Niners are looking to be will a run-first team this year, however, so fantasy owners need to keep that in mind heading into 2009. Still, he'll still be worth a middle- to late-round pick in seasonal fantasy drafts and is quite capable of putting up some nice stats as a rookie.

--Percy Harvin WR/KR (MIN)

Percy Harvin still landed in the first round despite some "character" issues and will become a serious play maker for the Minnesota Vikings. Can you imagine the Vikings lining up Harvin and Peterson in the Wildcat? Harvin has immense speed and skills as a runner and receiver and I fully expect him to compete with Sidney Rice for the number 2 WR alongside Bernard Berrian. Due to his immense potential and explosiveness, Harvin will warrant a late-round flier in most fantasy drafts and surely will do some damage at some point for the Vikings. Moreover, Harvin instantly makes the Vikings DST even better than they were last year.

--Jeremy Maclin WR (PHI)

The Eagles finally gave Donovan McNabb some weapons. Maclin has immense speed and can stretch defenses in the vertical pass attack. Furthermore, he was an absolute steal where the Eagles got him. After watching an Eagle rookie WR make an impact last year there is nothing to say Maclin cannot do the same. Look for Maclin to be a late round pick this summer and I fully expect him to make some big plays for McNabb and the Eagles this fall.

--Eugene Monroe and Eben Britton OT (JAX)

Sure, offensive linemen aren't drafted in fantasy football, but that doesn't make them any less important to your team's success. Injuries absolutely decimated the Jaguars offensive line last season and was the predominant reason the team failed to make the playoffs after a very successful 2007 season. The Jags want to get back to Jag football so it was no surprise to see the team land both OT Eugene Monroe in Round 1 AND Eben Britton in round 2. The acquisition of both Monroe and Britton will only make Maurice Jones Drew more attractive in fantasy drafts. Look for MJD to be a top 5 pick this summer.

--Jason Smith OT (STL)

The addition Smith is a real positive for the value of RB Steven Jackson. Now it is up to Jackson to stay healthy and produce the numbers that fantasy owners have been yearning from him for years. With a new defensive minded head coach the Rams want to run the ball and feature Jackson in their backfield, and Smith's presence will be huge in making the ground attack effective. Furthermore, the Rams also added FB Mike Karney this off season. As I mentioned it is now all up to Jackson to achieve his potential. He will surely go in the first round again this year. Time will tell if he is worth it.

--Mark Sanchez QB (NYJ)

Mark Sanchez was the hottest name in the 2009 class in the days before the draft and after the Jets pursuit of Brett Favre last year it was no surprise that the Jets traded two draft picks and three players to move up and select him. Alth0ugh Sanchez has started a mere 16 games at the collegiate level, he could very well wind up starting for new coach Rex Ryan when the Jets open their season. In fact, Ryan has told the media that Sanchez will in fact compete for the top spot with Kellen Clemens. Personally, I don't see Sanchez making any noise this year as a rookie and would avoid him on draft day except in keeper and dynasty leagues.

--Kenny Britt WR (TN)

The Titans have been desperate for WR's in recent years and hope they have found their number 1 with Kenny Britt out of Rutgers. Coach Jeff Fisher told the media that he wants to get Britt onto the field as soon as possible, so don't be shocked to see him starting on opening day. The Titans also signed former Steeler Nate Washington this off season so it could be difficult for Britt to make a significant fantasy impact in what will remain a run-based offense with Chris Johnson and Lendale White. He is definitely a player to watch in the preseason, but more than likely won't have more than late-round value in seasonal formats.

--Darius Heyward-Bey WR (OAK)

Being a huge Raider fan I was upset but not at all shocked at this move. It is clear at this point that Al Davis values pure speed more than any other attribute. Was Jerry Rice fast? Is Larry Fitzgerald a burner? The answer to both of these questions is no but one was the best there ever was and one is the best presently. However, with no clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver on the Raiders roster, Heyward-Bey will warrant late-round consideration in seasonal fantasy drafts and will have ample balls thrown to him this fall. Time will tell how this all works out and Heyward-Bey and Crabtree will be forever linked.

--Donald Brown RB (IND)

Donald Brown will immediately be thrown into the mix with the Colts and that spells good news for fantasy owners who draft him this summer. I have never really been sold on Joseph Addai and I don't think the Colts are either. Although, new Head Coach Jim Caldwell told the media that Addai will remain the team's No. 1 back, owners should definitely expect a committee situation to evolve in Indy. Addai should receive more carries, but any kind of platoon hurts his value in both seasonal and keeper leagues. Addai is no more than a No. 2 back in fantasy circles. As for Brown, he'll be worth a middle- to late-round selection and is a must for anyone drafting Addai.

In summary, it will be interesting to see what kind of impact these and the entire 2009 rookie class will have on the 2009 NFL season. They have large shoes to fill on account of last year.

Cheers and Beers

2009 Fantasy Football Sleepers

One of the keys to winning a fantasy football league is the ability to draft Sleepers. "Sleepers" are NFL players who are drafted in much lower rounds than their ending statistics warrant. In shopping terms, this is getting a bargain price for a valuable product. The estimated draft position is taken from the Maximum Fantasy Sports Mock Draft found on their home page. The Mock Draft was formulated using the generally accepted "standard" league configuration.

2009 Fantasy Football Sleepers

QB: Kyle Orton (Denver) - Orton was brought to Denver in the off-season trade for Jay Cutler. He is leaving an offense in Chicago that limited his passing attempts and had few receiving threats. In Denver, Coach Josh McDaniels will want to give Orton the opportunity to prove his controversial trade of Cutler was a smart move. With Brandon Marshall (maybe), Eddie Royal, Tony Sheffler, and others as his receiving options, Orton will put up fantastic numbers for the 16th QB off the board at the projected last pick of the 11th round.

RB: Derrick Ward (Tampa Bay) - Ward skipped out of New York into a situation in Tampa where the QB position is up for grabs. This scenario almost always favors the running game. While Ward was second fiddle in New York to Brandon Jacobs, he still put up a quiet 1000 yards (5.6 ypc). There is talk of a platoon situation with Earnest Graham in Tampa, but that is what is driving his draft position down. Ward will be the feature back and will receive the majority of carries throughout the year. Picking up a 1A running back in a tandem as the 30th RB off the board in the projected mid-7th round is a steal.

WR: Josh Morgan (SF) - Morgan is the true definition of a Sleeper. Isaac Bruce receives the attention due to his surprising results from last year and Michael Crabtree gets the press due to his high-profile college career, draft position and current holdout. Crabtree will sign before the season starts as it is asinine to expect Top-5 rookie money as the 10th overall pick. However, his holdout, rookie status and lingering ankle injury will cost him playing time this year and Isaac Bruce will slow down as the Niners work some youth in at the WR position. This will be Morgan. He is projected to be available at the start of the 12th round - a very nice place for a receiver that you can start every week.

TE: Ben Celek (PHIL) - Tight End is a position that is very deep and turns out Sleepers year-in and year-out. With that in mind, you can let other managers spend high draft picks on Tony Gonzalez, Jason Witten and Antonio Gates. Celek turned it on at the end of 2008, especially during the playoffs. The Eagles let long-time McNabb favorite, L.J. Smith, go since they have his replacement in Celek. With Philly's plethora of wispy receivers, McNabb needs someone to make the tough catches and hold onto the ball without leaving the field on a cart. Celek will fill that role nicely as a 16th round pick.

D: San Diego Chargers - The Chargers defense gave up 347 points last year but were missing Shawne Merriman and Shaun Phillips for most of last year. They are back and healthy this year. The Chargers also added Larry English in the middle of the defense. The schedule is very favorable (how can it not be when playing 6 games against AFC West teams?!) and the offense will be dominant once again, which is helpful in assisting the defense with additional sacks and interceptions. The Chargers are projected as the 18th defense off the board in our fantasy football Mock Draft, which will occur in the 16th round.

K: Garrett Hartley (NO) - After the Saints came to their senses and dropped Martin Gramatica and replaced him with Hartley, Hartley promptly went 13-13 on FGs and 28-28 on extra points. While kickers rarely get much attention in the fantasy football world, any kicker that is accurate, kicks in a dome over half the year (including a road game in Atlanta) and kicks for a team that puts a load of points on the board is worthy of drafting in the very last round of your draft as your only kicker.

XFL "Million Dollar Game" - San Fran vs LA - Pt 2

The XFL was a professional American football league that played for one season in 2001. The league was founded by Vince McMahon, the owner of the World Wrestling Federation. The XFL was intended to be a major professional sports league complement to the offseason of the NFL, but failed to find an audience and folded after its first season. Enter your search terms Submit search form Web www.all-xfl.com Eight teams were announced, three in cities with current NFL teams (New York/New Jersey, Chicago, and San Francisco) and the remaining five without (Las Vegas, Memphis, Orlando, Los Angeles, and Birmingham). Two divisions consisted of four teams each. The West comprised San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Memphis. The East consisted of New York/New Jersey, Chicago, Orlando, and Birmingham. Initially, the Demons were set to play in San Jose, California, but the stadium was deemed too small for the XFL's target attendance; the officials at Pac-Bell Park in San Francisco made the XFL an offer they couldn't refuse, and the Demons officially called San Francisco home. The Million Dollar Game was the XFL's championship game at the end of its only season in 2001. At first it had no special name, then was going to be called "The Big Game at the End," but eventually received the name it ended up with because a pot of one million dollars was to be split among the players of the winning team. 2010 NFL Predictions - San Francisco 49ers

The Arizona Cardinals have been the team to beat in the NFC West the last two seasons, but that could change this year. With future Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner deciding to hang it up, NFL lines makes are giving the San Francisco 49ers the edge in the division race, listing them as the -110 favorite to win the division. If the odds makers are correct, the 49ers will punch their ticket to the playoffs for the first time since 2002.

Offense: The offense struggled in 2009, scoring just 20.6 points per game (18th in the NFL). The 49ers finished 25th in rushing offense (100.0 yards per game) and 22nd in passing offense (190.8 yards per game). It was extremely difficult for the offense to sustain drives with its poor 29.8 percent third down conversion rate.

The biggest problem was a mediocre at best offensive line. Joe Staley and Eric Heitmann performed well, but the Niners knew they needed to add more talent up front. So they drafted tackle Anthony Davis and guard Mike Iupati in the first round. These two must be able to step in and perform right away.  The 49ers had a bit of misfortune with Heitmann fracturing his left fibula, but they are hoping to have him back by Week 2.

If the line can show improvement, Frank Gore could be poised for a monster year. Gore rushed for 1,120 yards and 10 scores in 2009, and he added 52 receptions for 406 yards and three more scores. The addition of former Eagles great Brian Westbrook should help keep Gore fresh.

The 49ers are a run-first team, but they have the potential to make big plays through the air with tight end Vernon Davis and wide receiver Michael Crabtree. Davis is coming off a career-year, catching 78 balls for 965 yards and 13 touchdowns. Once Crabtree's holdout was over, he wasted no time putting up big numbers, hauling in 48 passes for 625 yards in just 11 games.

It's been quite the process, but it appears Alex Smith is finally ready to be a starter in the NFL. After stepping into the role last season, he threw for 2,350 yards and 18 touchdowns with 12 interceptions. If he doesn't make the type of progress the Niners are expecting, former Texans starter David Carr will likely get the call.

Defense: Head coach Mike Singletary and defensive coordinator Greg Manusky have teamed up to put a solid defense on the field. This unit held opponents to only 17.9 points per game in 2009 (14th in the NFL).  Thanks to big nose tackle Aubrayo Franklin and stud linebacker Patrick Willis, the 49ers were among the best run-stuffing units in football, holding opponents to only 97.0 yards per game on the ground (6th in the NFL).

This unit was also very opportunistic in 2009. Its 33 forced turnovers tied for fifth-best in the NFL, and its 18 fumble recoveries tied for first.

While no player on the defense recorded more than 6.5 sacks, the 49ers tied for third in the NFL with 44 sacks. Defensive end Justin Smith, who has 13 sacks in two seasons with the Niners, brings the heat on a consistent basis.

If the 49ers can improve their 21st-ranked pass defense, they can really become an elite unit.  In order to do that, they'll need a bounce back season from Nate Clemens.

Prediction: 1st NFC West - Unless Matt Leinart completely surprises with a breakout season, I believe the 49ers will win the West, punching their first playoff ticket in nearly a decade. Be sure to check out my 2010 NFL predictions to see which teams I have winning the other seven divisions.

Take control of the Bucs offense on that final drive and score to send the game into OT or go for the win to salvage the Tampa season. Took me like a million tries to get this one. I even tried to do screen plays and other nonsense because i couldn't gain any yards, but i finally got lucky. The frame rate issues in this game are pretty annoying. On my 2 point conversion try it froze right when i was about the make the pass. Luckily i still passed it in time. Despite all of my efforts, i still almost lost the game at the last second LOL.

NFL Draft Spotlight by Team - #21 Pick by the Cincinnati Bengals

#21 - Cincinnati Bengals - Taylor Mays - USC

The Bengals could use a WR, but they'll have to wait for a round to draft their #2 receiver. No WR is rated high enough to draft here that isn't already selected. If Chase Coffman can come back and make an impact, he can fill in some of those catches that the Bengals need.

The Bengals need another safety, and Taylor Mays will be there to draft. He needs to improve in pass coverage, but if he can't, he can be the big-hitting, run-stopping SS, like Roy Williams. He's big enough to be a LB, but he's too fast to play there. With Mike Zimmer as his defensive coordinator, that team can help him improve into an elite safety. In the wrong system, Mays could be a bust, but if you put him with a good coach and defense, he can be a great player. The Bengals have enough good players on defense to allow Mays to focus on his talents and work on his flaws. If Rey Maualuga can come back strong after rehab, this could be the best defense in the AFC North. Domata Peko also needs to come back 100% too because he was injured at the end of 2009. He played in the wild card playoff game, but he clearly wasn't 100%. If the Bengals can draft someone that will make an impact in 2010, the team should be able to win the division again. Expect Carson to beg for a WR to be drafted in the 1st or 2nd round because Laveranues Coles was released in March.

Sports Betting 101- How to Bet on Hockey

Image : http://www.flickr.com

The most recent changes brought about in the hockey world centered around the NHL lock-out of the 2004-2005 season, the end result was a season without hockey and a flurry of new rules, most of the new rules were created and designed to bring more excitement to the game of hockey, however, these same rule changes also affected the way a gambler now wagers on hockey with regard to the elimination of ties and the new shootout format to decide games which of course put an end to games ending in a tie and brought about the introduction of the "money-line" to hockey.

Wagering on the "money-line" and/or on pitchers is nothing new to those familiar to wagering on baseball, these new rules mentioned above make hockey wagering almost identical to baseball wagering in that the best route to take is simply betting a team to win or lose, the difference is that in baseball you must know your pitchers but in hockey you must know your goalies, in my humble opinion the best way to wager on hockey is by concentrating on spread doggies or slight favorites, think about it a moment if you will my friend, if you were to concentrate the bulk of your wagers on the doggies and make these same wagers on the "money-line", then all you have to do is simply break even in the win/loss column to produce a profit, following is a list of key factors to look for when making a hockey wager:

1) The most important consideration is to know who is playing goalie for the two teams involved in any given contest, the reason being is due to the fact that a goalie is the single most important player on the ice and his performance will directly translate to the success of any given team on any given night. Keep up on starting line-ups and monitor the injury reports of each team playing on a particular day, often a situation will arise in which a back-up goalie gets the start.

2) Have a team by team schedule for the season on hand and realize in advance any and all scheduling situations that can and will impact any given teams performance, keep in mind that teams playing consecutive games on the have a tough row to hoe when facing rested home teams, quite often visiting teams do not arrive to the host city until early the next morning because they finished up a night game and then had to travel. In this scenario the visiting coach usually does not schedule a practice in order to keep the legs of his team fresh.

3) Hockey is similar to football in two key ways, first of all both games are very physical in nature, and secondly the adage that defense wins championships holds true in both sports. In hockey like football, there exists two type of teams, some teams play a style that is predicated on intimidating physical play featured by hard hitting while other teams play more of a finesse style of play predicated on timing, when two teams with these contrasting styles play usually the team with the more physical defense wins.

Jim Campbell finished the final four weeks of the 2005 NFL regular season with a mark of 14-5-2 ATS coming down the stretch for a winning rate of 73.68% and for the season in the NFL he finished with an overall mark of 48-33-4 ATS for a winning rate of 59.26% and that includes a perfect mark of 7-0 ATS in the NFL Playoffs, Jim has posted a mark of 6-2 ATS over the past EIGHT years with his Super Bowl selections.

NFL Ticket Prices Don't Cool Fan Fervor

Discussed with equal vigor in boardrooms and bars and among fans and casual viewers alike, NFL ticket prices are an exciting example of economics in work. The National Football League, home to 'America's Game', has enjoyed immense success since the merger of the American Football League into the NFL in 1969. The league consists of thirty-two teams in two conferences with each conference then divided into three divisions with either four or five teams in each division. The teams span a range of what's referred to as large-market, mid-market, and small-market cities; the demographics of the cities determine which market description applies and roughly equates to a combination of population and television coverage.

At the top of the heap are the large-market teams such the Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots, Washington Redskins, New York Giants, New York Jets, and Chicago Bears: These teams average among the highest in terms of 'average ticket price'; the average of all available ticket prices for their home stadiums. For the 2007-08 NFL season the Patriots had the highest overall average at just a hair under $118 per ticket; this average price is more than $27 higher than the second most expensive average ticket which belongs to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Not surprisingly, the Patriots and Buccaneers had the highest percentage increase from the 2006-07 Season as each team's average price increased by more than 24%. The Bears have the third-highest average price at $88.33, followed by the Giants at $88.06, the Jets at $86.99, and the Cowboys at $84.12. By contrast, the NFL average for the 2007-08 season was $72.20. Mid and small-market teams such as the Tennessee Titans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, and Buffalo Bills had the lowest average price. Each team's average ticket price comes in below $60 with the Bills at just $51.24.

Another measure of NFL ticket prices are the average premium ticket price. Premium ticket prices are a bit harder to define as these tickets may include luxury seating, preferred parking, and other amenities which vary greatly from team to team and stadium to stadium. Measured against this metric, the Patriots still come out on top with an average premium ticket price of $567. The Jets are a distant second at $390 and the Bills, with the lowest average 'regular' ticket price have an average premium price at $160.

Perhaps the best overall measure is based on the Fan Cost Index (FCI), a measure that consists of of four average tickets, two beers, four soft drinks, four hot dogs, parking for one car, two game programs, and two adult-sized caps. This measure is more indicative of a total spend at a NFL game and, once again, the New England Patriots top the scales at $596 for a family of four. The Chicago Bears, in keeping with their second-place finish behind the Patriots in the 'average' ticket price, are second with an FCI of $484. The NFL average FCI is just under $400 for a family of four.

NFL ticket prices have increased roughly 5% year over year but twenty-three teams announced price freezes for the 2008-09 year. Most of the teams who have announced ticket prices have done so to support new infrastructure initiatives or other expenses related to their teams. While fans will continue to debate their relative worth, it's clear NFL tickets will continue to sell.

Will the Oakland Raiders Make the NFL Playoffs Next Season?

Image : http://www.flickr.com

Although JaMarcus Russell didn't get a lot of playing time last season, you have to think that the Oakland Raiders are a lot better than they were with an offensive threat like Russell taking the snaps.

Last season, it was painfully obvious that the Raiders really had no chance of getting to the post season even with the AFC West being as bad as it was, but with the little time that their first pick got in on the action, you could tell times were a changing for fans of the Silver & Black.

In the off season, the Raiders, believe it or not, made some pretty prominent changes to make the team much better for the up coming season like signing both wide receiver Javon Walker and corner DeAngelo Hall. With these two Pro Bowl type football players, the Raiders have upgraded both on defense and on offense.

Personally, I think the Raiders biggest problem last season was scoring points. They had a decent defense as they always seem to have, but when it came to the offensive side of the ball, they were for the lack of a better word, useless, but with JaMarcus taking all the majority of the snaps, Justin Fargas becoming a better running back in terms of efficiency, Javon Walker being a down field threat and DeAngelo Hall shutting down Pro Bowl wide receivers, the Raiders a damn good chance of at least getting the Wild Card next season.

Not to mention, the Raiders have another high pick in the NFL Draft this year with the #4 pick in the first round, which gives the Raiders a good chance of getting Arkansas running back phenom Darren McFadden. With McFadden in the mix for the Raiders, we can start talking snatching the AFC West from the San Diego Chargers.
